Eagles Soar By Johnson 87-51

JOHNSON, Vt. (February 4, 2011) -  Senior wing Jay Uhrin (Winterport, Maine) scored 18 of his game-high 22 points in the first half including a 4-for-4 effort from the behind the arc to key a large Husson University at halftime as the Eagles cruised to a 87-51 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball win Friday night over Johnson State College in Carter Gym.  Husson wins their eight consecutive game to move to 15-4 overall and remain undefeated in NAC play at 8-0.  Johnson falls to 4-14 overall and 1-6 in the NAC.

 

The Eagles saw their lead swell to 29 at the break as the team went 7-for-13 from the behind the 3-point line and shot 49% percent from the field as the teams entered halftime with a score of 50-21.

 

Classmate Josh Jones (Jefferson, Maine) scored 13 points for Husson while sophomore Marc Zaharchuk (Richmond, Maine) added 10 points and seven rebounds for the balanced Eagles squad.

 

Sophomore Cody Camisa (Colchester, Vt.) scored all 11 of his points in the second-half while freshman Billy Boyd (Hardwick, Vt./Hazen) scored his 10 points all in the first half.  Boyd added a team-high seven rebounds, six of which came on the offensive end.

 

Johnson will host Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday at 2:00 pm while Husson will travel east to face Lyndon State College also at 2:00 pm.
