JOHNSON, Vt. (November 18, 2010) - Vermont Technical College moved to 4-0 on the young season as they easily handled host Johnson State College 80-57 on Monday night at Carter Gymnasium in non-conference men's basketball. The Green Knights raced to 20-point halftime lead and never looked back as junior Kevin Carr (Westminster, Md.) and senior Nick Simpson (Bay City, Mich.) each scored 24 points.
Sophomore Alex Tyrrell (Sydney, Australia)and Josh Lindsey (Palm Bay, Fla.) chipped in with 13 points apiece to supplement the VTC offense. Johnson (0-2, 0-0 North Atlantic Conference) was led by senior Ian Passino (Peru, N.Y.) and his 14 points.
VTC raced out to a 13-2 lead following a Tyrrell 3-pointer with 14:13 left to play in the first half. The Knights would remain in control throughout with the lead ballooning to 36 at one point during the second half.
The Knights would shoot 50.8% from the field for the night and force 28 Johnson turnovers.
Johnson moves on to play at Middlebury College on Sunday, November 28 at 4:00 pm while Vermont Tech will play at Eastern Maine Community College on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
