Freshman Bryan Hickey supplied 14 points and seven rebounds off the Johnson bench to help spark a 62-59 win over visiting St. Joseph (Vt.) on Wednesday
JOHNSON, Vt. (November 30, 2010) - Johnson State College men's basketball picked up their first win of the season by holding off visiting College of Saint Joseph (Vt.) by the score of 62-59. JSC (1-3, 0-0 North Atlantic Conference) knocked 9-of-22 (40.9%) 3-point field goal attempts on the night while holding CSJ (2-3, 0-0 Sunrise) to 4-of-19 (23.5%) from behind the arc.
Johnson State was lead by senior guard Ian Passino (Peru, NY/Peru) who canned five three's en route to 21 points while freshman Bryan Hickey (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) came off the bench to supply 14 points and seven rebounds. Fellow freshman Billy Boyd (Hardwick, Vt./Hazen), also in a substitution role, recorded eight points and eight rebounds.
St. Joseph (Vt.) saw four players score in double-figures led by Raheim Smalls (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and his 18-point, nine-rebound, six-assist, three-steal night. Dane Jobst (Athol, Mass.) and Evan Jobst (Athol, Mass.) each tossed in 11 points while KJay Jackson (Aurora, Ill.) scored 10.
Johnson State will next play in the Ed Hockenbury Classic Tournament at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont on Saturday against another non-conference foe in Colby-Sawyer College at 8:00 pm while St. Joseph (Vt.) will play again tomorrow at 7:30 when they travel to Williams College.
