JOHNSON, Vt. - The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has announced their 2011-12 All-Conference Awards and as part of the announcement has recognized the Johnson State College men's basketball team as the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award. The award is voted on by the league's coaches in an electronic vote.
Johnson State, who finished the season 6-20 overall, 6-12 in the NAC and finished tied for sixth place in the 10 team league, also received the recognition in 2010-11.
The Badgers will bid farewell to three graduating seniors from the 2011-12 team in Brian Phelps (Milton, Vt./Milton), Timmy Respass (Philadelphia, Penn./Bucks County CC), and Alen Turan (Essex, Vt./Essex) but are already optimistic about the 2012-13. The Badgers are slated to return their top six scorers from 2011-12 next season led by point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) who led the team in scoring (12.1 ppg), assists (5.2 apg), and steals (2.3 spg).
