JOHNSON, Vt. - Johnson State College junior forward Bryan Hickey (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball Player of the Week.
The 6'6" high-riser helped Johnson kick off the new year in fine form by sparking the Badgers to a pair of NAC home wins on Friday and Saturday. Johnson topped the University of Maine-Farmington 68-65 on Friday evening and then beat Thomas College on Saturday 87-84.
Hickey, a Business major, scored 14 points, had seven rebounds, and collected four steals in the win over Farmington and then followed that up with a career-high 25 points on 9-17 shooting to go with 13 boards in the Thomas victory. The double-double was the sixth of the season for Hickey.
For the season Hickey is averaging 14.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 blocks per contest and has the Badgers standing with a 5-6 overall record, 3-2 in the NAC.
The Badgers and Hickey will have three NAC road games this week starting with a 7:30 pm tilt on Tuesday at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont.
