JOHNSON, Vt. - Johnson State College freshman guard Asim Khan (Torrance, Calif./Torrance) (pictured) has been named North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball Rookie of the Week. This is the third time Khan has been recognized with the honor this season.
Khan, a health science major, led the Badgers with strong performances in all three contests this week. During the Badger's match-up against Castleton, the freshman guard finished with a game-high 21 points, six steals, and five assists.
Khan was the only JSC player to make it into double-figures in their game against Husson, supplying 16 points and then scoring 14 points, dealing out four assists, and collecting four steals just a day later against MMA. Overall, Khan shot 60% from the field and 91.7% from the charity stripe, averaging 18 points per game.
For the season Khan, who has started in all 14 games this year, is averaging 13 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.9 steals per outing while shooting 48.6% from the floor and 80.2% from the free throw line.
Johnson State and Khan will take to the hardwood Tuesday when they travel to Husson University to compete in the NAC Quarterfinals.
