JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball program and Head Coach Miles Smith have earned an additional commitment for the upcoming 2020-2021 season.
Josiah Wimberly a native of Los Angeles, California has signed the necessary paperwork and will attend NVU-Johnson in the fall of 2020. When arrived at NVU-Johnson Wimberly plans to pursue a degree in business. A student-athlete at Frederick Kc Price III Schools, Wimberley earned a 3.70 grade point average in the classroom.
"I chose Northern Vermont University-Johnson because of the business program and the opportunity to continue my athletic career and be part of the men's basketball program," said Wimberly.
On the court Wimberly averaged 13 points, five rebounds and four assists per game. This past season Wimberly was also named the Los Angeles Sentinel Student Athlete of the Week.
"I am very excited to play for Coach Smith because of his winning attitude, his connection to his players, and I am excited to learn more about the game of basketball from him.Joining the Badger Athletic program means a lot to me because this program is giving me an opportunity to display my god given talents and gives me an opportunity to work on my craft and get better every day."
Head Coach Miles Smith is excited for the addition of Josiah Wimberly and believes Wimberly will bring depth to the Bagers for the upcoming season. "NVU-Johnson men's basketball program is excited to bring on Josiah Wimberly," said Smith. "His toughness, ability to shoot and defensive mindset adds to the mindset of the student-athlete well have that is committed to our program. Josiah is coming in with a desire to learn the game and grow both athletically and academically. Josiah will an important part of the culture of Men's Basketball at Northern Vermont University."
Miles Smith and the NVU-Johnson men's basketball plan to announce additional commitments in the near future.
