Pair of Soccer Rookies Honored by NAC

JOHNSON, Vt. - A pair of Johnson State newcomers have been selected North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week for their contributions:

Johnson State freshman striker Kelsie Perdue (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) has helped spark a four-match win streak for Johnson State with her fine play.  In a 3-0 week last week Perdue recorded a pair of goals and an assist, all of which came in a 9-0 victory at home over Paul Smith's on Saturday.

 

Perdue, currently undeclared, now has nine points (3 g, 3 a) on the season and will the Badgers into NAC competition this weekend with home matches against Maine Maritime on Saturday and Husson on Sunday.

For the second consecutive week Johnson State freshman goalkeeper Ryan Belen (Northvale, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) made eight saves as he recorded his second shutout of the season in a scoreless tie against visiting SUNY-ESF on Sunday.

 

Belen, a Phys Ed/Psych major, currently has a 0.56 goals against average, 25 saves, and a .926 save percentage in 320 minutes for the Badgers.

 

The team will travel to non-conference foe Southern Vermont College on Wednesday for a 4:00 pm match and then return home for their first NAC contests this weekend against Maine Maritime on Saturday and Husson on Sunday.
