JOHNSON, Vt. (October 23, 2010) - Johnson State College men's soccer raced past Green Mountain College 4-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday. With the win the Badgers up their record to 3-8-3, 2-4-1 NAC while GMC ends their season at 1-13-1, 0-7 NAC. The win earns Johnson the #6 seed in the North Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals where they will play at #3 University of Maine-Farmington on Tuesday at 2:00 pm.
The Badgers saw junior Ryan Demars (Morrisville, Vt./Peoples Academy) get the first goal of the afternoon collected a ball in a mix of players in front of the goal and poking it home just 7:37 into the match.
JSC would make it 2-0 on the highlight goal of the afternoon when from the left corner Lucas Fitzgerald (Morrisville, Vt./Peoples Academy) curled home a kick to the far post corner past a diving Nate Kishbaugh (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna).
The lead would grow to 3-0 when Fitzgerald, from the opposite side corner, floated a corner kick that Granger Gosnell (Peru, N.Y./Peru) headed to the near post for his fourth goal of the season.
Peter LeBlanc (Worcester, Mass./Abby Kelley Foster) completed the day's scoring with the first goal of his collegiate career taking a crossing pass from Ryan Joy (North Montpelier, Vt./U-32) at the far post and heading it back to the near post.
Sam Martin (Essex, Vt./Essex) earned the win for the Badgers by making a pair of saves while Toliver DeMasi (Winooski, Vt./Winooski) relieved an injured Kishbaugh and made seven saves in over 70 minutes of action in the goal.
