Swafford Earns NAC Rookie of the Week

North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week Chance Swafford

JOHNSON, Vt. (March 30, 2011) - Johnson State College first-year student-athlete Chance Swafford (North Troy, Vt./North Country) has been named the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week in men's tennis.

Swafford, a Psychology major, helped the Badgers to a 1-1 weekend with a 6-3 conference victory at Thomas College and 8-1 non-conference defeat at the University of Southern Maine (USM) over the weekend.  Swafford went 2-0 at #3 singles picking up a 6-1, 6-0 win over his opponent from Thomas and snagging the Badgers only team point against USM by winning a tight 7-6, 6-4 match.  He teamed with Ben Algar (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) to pick up an 8-4 win over their opponents from Thomas in #2 doubles action as well.

Swafford and the Badgers (1-2, 1-1 North Atlantic Conference) return to action next week with a scheduled road-match at Lyndon State College on Wednesday, April 6.
