Joy Named NAC East Player of the Week

JOHNSON, Vt. - Johnson State men's tennis senior student-athlete Ryan Joy (North Montpelier, Vt./U-32) has been named North Atlantic Conference East (NAC East) Division Player of the Week.

Joy, a Biology major, helped Johnson to a 2-0 week last week with an 8-1 conference win at Lyndon State on Saturday and then an 8-1 non-conference victory at Green Mountain College on Sunday.  The Badgers now stand at 3-5 overall, 1-0 NAC East.

Joy, playing at #1 singles, won both of his matches over the weekend to become to all-time leader in men's tennis singles victories at Johnson with 21.  Joy dispatched of his LSC opponent 6-1, 6-2 and then topped his GMC counterpart 6-2, 6-1.  Joy also paired with Chance Swafford (Waterbury, Vt./North Country) to win both matches at #1 doubles.  On the young season Joy is 3-5 overall in singles action with three consecutive wins.

Joy and the Badgers will return to the courts Friday at 3:30 pm when the face Lyndon State, this time in a scheduled non-conference showdown, at the Johnson State tennis courts.
