Swafford Tabbed NAC Player of the Week

JOHNSON, Vt. - Johnson State sophomore men's tennis student-athlete Chance Swafford (Waterbury, Vt./North Country) has been named North Atlantic Conference East Division (NAC East) Player of the Week.

Swafford, a Psychology major, sparked a 2-0 week for Johnson State and has keyed a five-match win streak for the Badgers.  In #2 singles action Swafford cruised past his Lyndon State opponent on Friday 6-2, 6-0 and then beat his Castleton State counterpart on Saturday 6-2, 6-3.  He teamed with Ryan Joy (North Montpelier, Vt./U-32) to win both of their #1 doubles matches as well, 8-2 over Lyndon and 8-5 against Castleton.

In the Badgers five match winning streak Swafford has won all five of his #2 singles matches while he and Joy are undefeated in those matches as well at #1 doubles.  Senior Alen Turan (Essex, Vt./Essex) has also won five straight at #3 singles.

This recognition marks consecutive weeks that a JSC Badger has been named NAC East Player of the Week with Joy earning the honor last week.

Swafford and the Badgers return to the court on Thursday when they host Norwich University at 3:30 pm.
