JOHNSON, Vt. - Johnson second-year Head Men's Tennis Coach Laura Laramee had been named North Atlantic Confernce (NAC) East Division Coach of the Year in a vote conducted by the league's coaches. Laramee led Johnson to a 4-1 mark in the NAC East, to a second-consecutive birth to the NAC East Finals, a 10-3 record in New England, and an overall record of 10-8.
Laramee and her senior-laden team started the season in Hilton Head, South Carolina taking on some very talented out-of-region opponents and going 0-5. But that experience fueled the 10-3 regional record that included two five-match winning streaks as well as the 4-1 mark within the conference. Johnson advanced to the NAC East Finals this season by defeating Thomas College in the semifinal round but fell to top-seed and host Colby-Sawyer in the finals.
The Badgers under the guidance of then first-year Coach Laramee advanced to the NAC East Finals in 2011 before they fell to Castleton. JSC finished the 2011 season with a 6-6 record, 5-3 NAC East.
Laramee and the Badgers also saw their first and second singles players receive all-NAC recognition in Ryan Joy (North Montpelier, Vt./U-32) and Chance Swafford (Waterbury, Vt./North Country). The duo also teamed for All-NAC Doubles First Team recognition.
