HENNIKER, N.H. - The Johnson State College men's cross country team, plagued by sickness on this day, ran to a 10th place team finish at the 2012 North Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championship hosted by New England College on Saturday.
Lyndon State College had the race's top three finishers and won the championship with a final team score of 23 besting Colby-Sawyer's 70 as the Chargers took second place. Maine Maritime Academy came in third place with a 138 just ahead of Castleton's 142 and Green Mountain's 144. The Badgers finished witha team score of 220.
Lyndon's Kyle Powers (Waterford, Vt.) won the championship with a time of 25:35 which also earned him the 2012 NAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year Award. Teammates Josh Grant (Nashua, N.H.) and Tyler Scheibenpflug (Wolcott, Conn.) came in second and third respectively in times of 25:59 and 26:31. Colby-Sawyer's Hayden Bunnell (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) was fourth (27:01) and Green Mountain's Forrest Teutsch (Reading, Mass.) was fifth (27:51).
Johnson was paced by freshman Brendan Walsh (Killingworth, Conn.) who came in 20th in a time of 30:02. Classmate Steven Lamonde (Hingham, Mass.) finished in 31:23 and came in 37th overall. Another JSC rookie, Zachary Shuttle (St. Albans, Vt.) was 41st in a time of 31:54, senior Kayden Keith (Morrisville, Vt.) came in 64th (34:40), freshman John Dabrowski (Williston, Vt.) finished in 70th (35:23), sophomore Jake Eustis (North Yarmouth, Maine) came in 75th (36:10), senior Alex Lagase (Milford, Conn.) was 77th (36:23), and sophomore Gregory Davis (Philadelphia, Penn.) was 82nd (38:44).
