LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - Meghan Gadapee spun a two-hitter and Tia Billado pounded out two hits, including a run-scoring double, to lead Lyndon to an 8-0 five-inning victory over Johnson State in the nightcap of a doubleheader played Thursday at Skip Pound Field.

Meghan Gadapee bounced back from a Game 1 loss to record the win, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out one and walking none. The Hornets plated three runs in the top of the first on a fielder's choice, a sacrifice fly off the bat of Kelly Butler and a run-scoring single by Mary Gagne.

Lyndon upped its advantage to four in the third on Butler's RBI double and added yet another run in the fourth on Billado's double off the top of the fence in left centerfield. The Hornets plated two runs on five walks in the top of the fifth to seal the win.

Morgan Rogerson (Hardwick, Vt./Hazen) and Heather McLaughlin (Williston, Vt./CVU) had one hit each for Johnson and Meagan Russ (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) was tagged with the loss. She allowed six runs on five hits while fanning two and walking two. Caitlin Mackey (St. Albans, Vt./BFA-St. Albans) relieved Russ in the fifth and walked all five batters she faced.

In the opener, Russ tossed a one-hitter, and Samantha Pothier (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg), Erica Pustari (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) and Mackey collected two hits each as Johnson State downed the Hornets by a score of 9-0 in five innings.

Tanya Randall's (Fryeburg, Maine/Fryeburg) two-run double in the fourth provided all the runs the Badgers would need to secure the victory. Pustari had a RBI single in the inning which resulted in a three-run lead for Johnson. The visitors blew the game open in the next frame, plating six runs highlighted by a two-run single by Kayla Golfin (Castleton, Vt./Fair Haven) to take command of the game.

Russ went the distance to get the win allowing no runs on one hit while striking out one and walking three. Gadapee allowed nine earned runs on 12 hits, fanned two and walked one.

With the split, Lyndon moved to 6-14 on the season overall and 2-8 in the North Atlantic Conference. Johnson is currently 4-18 overall and 3-9 NAC.
