Pothier, Swafford Tabbed With NAC Honors

JOHNSON, Vt. - The North Atlantic Conference has recognized a pair of Johnson State College student-athletes for their contributions last week on the field and court.
NAC SOFTBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - SAMANTHA POTHIER
First-year utility player Samantha Pothier (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg), despite four road losses for Johnson State at Husson and Maine Maritime, had a tremendous individual weekend. Pothier went 7-for-11 during the weekend for a .636 batting average while driving in five runs and scoring once. Pothier was particularly hot in the Sunday doubleheader at MMA going 6-for-7 with five RBI.
Pothier, a Health Science major, is batting .345 with 10 RBI and five runs scored for the season in 20 games played.
Pothier and the Badgers are scheduled to play at Lyndon State on Thursday, April 21 at 3:30 pm in a doubleheader with significant NAC playoff implications.
NAC MEN'S TENNIS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - CHANCE SWAFFORD
First-year men's tennis student-athlete Chance Swafford (North Troy, Vt./North Country) helped Johnson to an 8-1 win over NAC foe Thomas College in the Badgers only match of the week by defeating his Terrier opponent 6-1, 6-2 at #2 singles play. Swafford teamed with Ryan Joy (North Montpelier, Vt./U-32) at #1 doubles for an 8-4 win as well.
Swafford, a Psychology major, earns the NAC recognition for the second time with season is 4-1 this season in both singles and doubles action and has helped JSC to a 3-3 overall record, 3-1 in the NAC.
Swafford and the Badgers face-off with Castleton State College on Wednesday, April 20 at 3:00 pm at the Collins-Perley Sports & Fitness Center in St. Albans, Vermont in their next match.
