JOHNSON, Vt. (January 27, 2011) - Visiting Plymouth State University used a defense that forced 29 turnovers to fuel a 82-48 non-conference women's basketball victory on Thursday night in Johnson. The Panthers snap a nine-game losing skid with victory and move to 8-10 overall, 1-7 Little East Conference while Johnson falls to 4-12 overall, 0-5 North Atlantic Conference.
The defensive effort from Plymouth not only created turnovers but limited makes as the Badgers were held to 23% shooting in the first half to help the Panthers to a 42-17 halftime lead.
Alicia Doucet (Manchester, N.H./Central) paced Plymouth offensively scoring 18 points and grabbing five rebounds. Amanda Kania (Manchester, N.H./West) had a productive evening for Plymouth scoring 10 points, hauling down a team-high eight rebounds, handing out five assists, and collecting four steals.
Johnson saw junior Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) score 18 points while sophomore Catlyn Hughes (Canterbury, Conn./Griswold) tossed in 11 points and added seven rebounds.
Johnson will now travel to play at Green Mountain College on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm while Plymouth State returns home to face Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday at 3:00 pm
