JOHNSON, Vt. (February 8, 2011) -  Lyndon State College picked up a North Atlantic Conference road win on Tuesday night at Johnson State College behind 21 points and 19 rebounds from sophomore forward Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt.).  The Hornets step over the .500 mark to 10-9 overall, 6-4 NAC while Johnson falls to 4-17 overall, 0-10 NAC.

The Badgers kept the game close over the first 10 minutes behind balanced scoring, a competitive rebounding game, and a solid defensive effort and entered the locker room at halftime with trailing 28-21.

The teams would exchange baskets for much for the first nine minutes of the second half but following a Molly Grover (Cumberland, Maine/Cheverus) lay-up for Johnson that made the score 45-37 with 10:24 to play LSC would rip off 10 straight points capped by a Maisie Sanchez (Waterbury, Conn.) 3-pointer from the right wing.  The Hornets would cruise to the victory from there behind a 17-for-26 free throw shooting effort.

Supporting Lawson was Naomi White (Danville, Vt.) who scored 14 points and eight rebounds while Ariel McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) chipped in with 10 points.

Johnson was led by junior Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt.) who scored 14 points, grabbed eight boards, and collected five steals while Grover hit a pair of 3-point field goals en route to 12 points on the night.  The Badgers were without leading scorer and rebounder Jen Ferrari (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) due to illness.

Johnson will now travel to Maine for a pair of games this weekend at Thomas College on Friday and at the University of Maine-Farmington on Saturday at 8:00 pm and 4:00 pm respectively while Lyndon will play the same teams on the weekend but at Farmington on Friday and Thomas on Saturday.
