Women's Basketball set to compete in February & March: 2021 Schedule & COVID Restrictions

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball team announced their upcoming second semester basketball season. The Badgers returned to campus on January 15, 2021 in preparation to compete in the upcoming weeks.

The last time the Badgers took the court competitively was on Saturday, February 22, 2020 when they concluded the 2019-20 season at the University of Maine Farmington.

On January 11, 2021 the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Presidents' Council determined that it is not feasible to conduct a NAC regular or postseason basketball schedule with members spread across three states. Ultimately, presidents determined the best course of action is to forgo a traditional conference schedule this year while allowing schools autonomy to play games at their own discretion.

Quickly, NVU-Johnson women's basketball began scheduling for the second semester. The schedule reflects that NVU-Johnson women's basketball will pursue playing opportunities throughout the month of February and into the month of March.

The Badgers will open up the competitive season Sunday, February 7 where they will face Fisher College in Carter Gymnasium at 3:00pm. The team then heads on the road where they will face in state opponent Castleton University on Thursday, February 11 and Norwich University on Sunday, February 14. The following Wednesday, the Badgers will host Norwich University followed by Fisher on Friday, February 19.

Headed into the final week of February, women's basketball will travel back to Northfield, Vermont to face the Cadets on Tuesday, February 23 before back to back games against SUNY Canton on Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27. The team will then conclude the season on Wednesday, March 3 in Carter Gymnasium against the Norwich Cadets.

Due to COVID restrictions there will be no fans in Carter Gymnasium for the duration of the basketball season. Contests played on NVU-Johnson campus will include only essential game management and athletic staff.
