Badgers Fall to Chargers on Road

BANNER

Colby-Sawyer pulled away in the second half to hand the Badgers a 74-48 setback on Saturday afternoon.

SUMMARY

Johnson opened the game strong, trading baskets early and trailing just 18-13 after the first quarter thanks to a three-pointer from Kristie Zator and a pair of layups by Abbie Hernandez and Jaylah Jones. The Badgers stayed close in the second frame, cutting the deficit to three on a Hernandez jumper and Jones drive, but Colby-Sawyer answered with a 10-3 run and two late threes to take a 35-22 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw Johnson fight back behind Zator's five quick points and Jones' layup, trimming the margin to 11 at 31-42. However, Colby-Sawyer's depth proved decisive as Emily Leonard and Elyza Mitchell combined for key buckets, and Delaney Raymond buried a three to push the lead to 19. The Chargers closed the period ahead 56-36.

In the fourth, Johnson continued to battle—Jones scored twice and Jacquelyn Oberg added four points at the line—but Colby-Sawyer's balanced attack sealed the outcome. Jones' late layup brought Johnson to 48 points, but the Chargers prevailed 74-48.
