Johnson Badgers came out hot with a dominant first half but ultimately fell to a strong UMass Boston squad Sunday afternoon, 73-49.
SUMMARY
Johnson opened Thursday's matchup strong, jumping out to a first quarter 16-11 lead behind two three-pointers from Kristie Zator and a late triple from Jaylah Jones. The Badgers extended their advantage in the second frame, with Zator hitting another three, Kamryn Devero knocking down a deep shot, and Faith Meade adding a triple to make it 29-19. UMass Boston closed the half with an and-one layup, trimming the margin to 29-22 at the break.
The third quarter proved pivotal as the Beacons stormed back with a 10-0 run, flipping the score to 32-29. Johnson battled with buckets from Jacquelyn Oberg, but UMass Boston closed the period ahead 46-35. In the fourth, the Beacons pulled away to seal the 73-49 win.
