JOHNSON, Vt. (January 5, 2010) - Both the 2010 Johnson State College men's and women's soccer teams have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with their Team Ethics/Sportsmanship Award.

The award is based on the cumulative number of yellow cards as a team and is a tiered award; Gold (zero yellow cards), Silver (1-5 yellow cards), and Bronze (6-10 yellow cards).  The Johnson women's program, with only one yellow card all season, earned the Silver tier, and the men's program, with only seven yellow cards all season, earned the Bronze tier.

Only one other Division III institution, Haverford College, in the country earned recognition on both the men's and women's side and only 72 soccer programs nationally in NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA Division I and II, and the NJCAA earned the award in 2010. 

"I am excited about the student-athlete's being recognized for their ethical standards and their representation of and the reflection on Johnson State College," stated Head Men's and Women's Coach Ray Campanile.
