Freshman Kelsie Perdue recorded a pair of goals in the Badgers 9-0 home victory over Paul Smith's on Saturday

JOHNSON, Vt. (September 18, 2010) - Eight different Badgers recorded goals as the Johnson State women's soccer team ran past visiting Paul Smith's College on Saturday at Minaert Field.  Johnson State outshot the Bobcats 30-8 on the day and move to 3-2 overall, 0-0 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while Paul Smith's falls to 0-5-1 overall, 0-0 Sunrise Conference.

Johnson, now winners of three straight, got on the board in the sixth minute when Emily Hassard (Montpelier, Vt./Spaulding) put a shot between the legs of PSC keeper Kaitlin Hansen (Worcester, N.Y.).  Nine minutes later freshman Jen Ferrari (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) tallied her sixth goal in four matches with a blast just under the crossbar from just outside the penalty box.

Samantha Cutting (Rochester, Vt./Rochester) made it 3-0 Johnson when she took a Kyleigh Joseph (Hancock, N.H./Hancock) pass and beat Hansen in the 18th minute.  Kelsie Perdue (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) would follow that up just 1:11 later with a score off the left post to make the margin four with Cutting picking up the assist.

Stephanie Fay (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) would wrap up the first half scoring with 2:06 left on the first half clock by lofting a long shot from the right side over the head of Hansen and to the far post for a pretty score.

Johnson would receive goals from Ally Bataille (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood), Ashley Wentzell (Bradford, Vt./Oxbow), and Bambi Patch (Johnson, Vt./Lamoille) as well as Perdue's second goal of the day to account the second half scoring.

Jes Gertsch (East Haven, Conn./East Haven) made four saves to pick up the win for Johnson while Hansen made six stops before being relieved by Megan Long (Kane, Penn.) who made four saves.

Johnson will play again on Sunday at home when they take on SUNY-ESF at 12:00 pm while Paul Smith's moves on to play the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) at home next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
