Senior Samantha Cutting recorded her first goal of the season in the Badgers 4-0 win at Daniel Webster on Saturday

 

Nashua, N.H. - The Johnson State College women's soccer team posted its first victory of the season, shutting out host Daniel Webster College, 4-0 in a regional matchup Saturday at Eagle Field.

 

Jennifer Ferrari (Westfield, Mass.) netted two scores while Kelsie Perdue (Barre, Vt.) added a goal and set up two as the Badgers (1-2) outshot the Eagles, 22-8 overall.

 

Junior goalkeeper Amy Waller (Berlin, Mass.) sparkled, finishing with 12 stops for the Eagles (0-2), while Badger netminder Jes Gertsch (East Haven, Conn.) made three saves.

 

After a scoreless first half, Ferrari hooked up with Perdue twice in the span of seven minutes with Perdue sending in two corner kicks that Ferrari headed home to build a 2-0 advantage in the 48th and 55th minutes, respectively.

 

Samantha Cutting (Rochester, Vt.) upped the lead in the 64th off an Emily Hassard (Montpelier, Vt.) pass and Perdue closed it out with a breakaway score in the 68th.

 

The Eagles return to action with game three of a five-game season opening home stand on Tuesday as they host Anna Maria College at 3:30 p.m. Johnson State hosts Bay Path College Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
