JOHNSON, Vt. - Five Johnson State women's soccer standouts have been honored by the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) with All-Conference Recognition. JSC finished with an 8-5-3 overall record, 3-4-2 in the NAC.
NAC 1st Team:
Chelsea Hostetter, So., F, Morrisville, Vt./Peoples Academy
Hostetter, also named NAC Rookie of the Year, was one of the most prolific scorers in the NAC this season. The lethal forward scored 15 goals and dealt out seven assists for 37 points placing her tied for third in the league. Hostetter acheived these numbers even though she missed all of the final three NAC contests and large portions of two other due to injury. The Elementary Education major had scoring outbursts of five goals, matching a JSC school record, and four goals during the season.
Amber McCullock, So., GK, Morrisville, Vt./Peoples Academy
McCullock was one the top keepers in the league this season and was essentially recognized as the best by the NAC coaches as the lone goalie on the NAC 1st Team. McCullock, an Athropology/Sociology major, led the NAC in save percentage at .917 and was third in both saves (90) and goals-against average (0.70). McCullock's anticipation, athleticism and toughness were just a few traits that allowed her to record four double-digit save efforts and two double-overtime shutouts.
NAC 2nd Team:
Ally Bataille, Jr., M/F, Waterbury, Vt./Harwood
One of the most creative players in the NAC, Bataille ranked second on the team in scoring and seventh in the NAC in scoring with eight goals and nine assists for 25 points. Bataille, a NAC 2nd Team member in 2010 as well and physical education major, recorded at least a point in nine of the first 10 matches of the season with at least two points in eight of those. She played in all 16 Johnson matches while recording three game-winning scores.
Jennifer Ferrari, So., Midfield, Westfield, Mass./Westfield
Ferrari had one of the most dangerous shots in the league again this season with the capability of ripping a shot on goal from just about anywhere on the pitch. A creative writing major and NAC 1st-Teamer last year, Ferrari had 13 points in 2011 with five goals and three assists while playing in 14 matches. She also helped the Badgers on the defensive side of field as she played in all nine of Johnson's shutouts this season.
Kathryn Johnson, Sr., Defense, Hyde Park, Vt./Lamoille (Pictured)
The backbone of JSC's defense for all four of her seasons, Johnson was often seen erasing a break away or advantage situation for opponents with her smart and tenacious defensive skills. The Elementary Education major keyed nine Johnson State shutouts while starting all 16 matches this season and 59 matches she played in during her outstanding career.
