Senior Kristina Gorden (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) has been selected as Johnson State College's recipient of the Vermont Campus Compact's 2013 Engaged Student(s) Award. Gorden and her work will be honored at the Vermont Campus Compact Engaged Campus Forum on Friday, April 12th in Burlington, Vermont.
Vermont Campus Compact (VCC) awards this honor annually to a student or student group at a VCC member campus who demonstrates a significant investment of time and energy into activities that promote and support engagement at their institution and among their peers.
During her time at Johnson State College, Gorden has been actively involved in the Christian Fellowship, Student Government Association, the campus' SERVE office and the women's soccer team. Among the many activities Gorden has been involved in, she has led a group to New Orleans to help with Hurricane Katrina relief, volunteered at blood drives on campus and devoted time to the Laraway Homework Club.
Gorden is "excited and honored" to be recognized by the VCC. She is expected to graduate this May with a bachelor's degree in wellness and alternative medicine and is currently deciding which naturopathic medicine program she would like to attend next fall.
