Thirty members of the men's and women's soccer programs traveled to Hyde Park on Saturday, August 29th to volunteer at the World Soccer Festival. The student-athletes continued this tradition for the third year, serving as referees for the 3v3 youth soccer tournament and ambassadors of the game.
The World Soccer Festival is an interactive community event celebrating the cultural experience inspired by soccer. The day consists of a Player Parade of Nations, multi-cultural music, food, and fun with soccer as the main attraction. This year, event participants were inspired by the likes of the Sambatucada Afro-Brazilian Band and the Shidaa African Cultural Project.
Senior Women's Soccer Player Jenna Paul says of the festival, "This was our third year as a team volunteering. It's one of your favorite events that we all look forward to. The kids love playing and competing against the other countries. Everyone is there for the same reason but we may have even more fun than the kids do!"
