The Badgers Women's Soccer team battled to a hard-fought nil-nil draw against UMaine-Farmington on Saturday afternoon at Minaert Field, securing the #4 seed in the NAC playoffs.
SUMMARY
Vermont State University Johnson and the University of Maine-Farmington played to a scoreless draw in a tightly contested North Atlantic Conference matchup. Though teams created scoring opportunities, strong defense and goalkeeping kept the match level through 90 minutes.
The Badgers recorded 9 shots, including 4 on goal, while the Beavers tallied 11 shots with 8 on target. VTSU Johnson goalkeeper Isabel Atkisson was outstanding, making 8 saves to earn the clean sheet.
Following a moment of pressure in the 24th minute, the Badgers responded with a strong push of their own, including a pair of shots from Anna Fairweather and Sadie Baranyay, but just missed the finishing touch.
With the result, VTSU Johnson finishes the regular season 8-3-5 (4-1-4 NAC) and clinches the #4 seed in the NAC playoffs. The Badgers will host UMaine-Farmington, the #5 seed, in the opening round.
