Three-time defending champion, Colby-Sawyer has earned the top seed in the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, which will be hosted by the Chargers on Saturday, October 10.
Colby-Sawyer finished the regular season a perfect 7-0 in conference play and 12-2 overall. The Chargers will square off against the No. 4 seed, Johnson State (6-6 overall, 4-3 NEAC East). Castleton (9-2, 5-2) earned the No. 2 seed and will take on No. 3 Husson (6-2, 5-2).
This is the first NAC Championship berth since 2009 when the Badgers finished third in the conference after dropping a 6-3 semi-final match to Lyndon State.
NAC predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.
The semifinal round will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the winners meeting in the final round an hour after the opening matches are complete. Please note, all dates and times are tentative and subject to change due to inclement weather.
The NEAC East champion will take on NEAC West champion, which will be decided in spring 2016. The date of the crossover championship is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 7, in the Albany, N.Y. area to determine the conference champion. The overall champion will then receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.
A video will be available early next week on the NAC website for fans to view the 2015 NEAC East Championship highlights.
