Johnson Drops Lyndon 3-0

JOHNSON, Vt. - Johnson State College women's volleyball won a pivotal North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Monday night in Carter Gymnasium defeating visiting Lyndon State College 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-20) to take possession of the final NAC playoff spot with two league matches left to play for both in Maine this weekend.  The Badgers move to 3-15 overall, 1-3 NAC while Lyndon drops to 3-14 overall, 0-4 NAC.

 

Johnson received serve well throughout the match allowing only one Lyndon service ace in the entire match while sophomore Kylie Van Etten (Montrose, Penn./Elk Lake) assisted on all 17 of the Badgers kills on the night to spark JSC to the victory.  Freshman Chelsea Vaillancourt (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg) showed a well-rounded game throughout the match leading the team with eight kills, seven service aces, and six digs.  Sophomore Jessica Pafumi (Monson, Mass./Monson) recorded six kills on the night while sophomore Alex Benlock (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) supplied four service aces.

 

Lyndon was paced by Ally Ciaramitaro (Melrose, Mass.) eight digs and five assists while Christine Bailey (Lyndonville, Vt.) paced the Hornets with three kills while adding six digs.

 

Both teams will travel to Castine, Maine on Saturday for a NAC quad-match starting at 10:00 am with both teams squaring off against host Maine Maritime Academy as well as Husson University.
