The Johnson Badgers Women's Volleyball team swept Lyndon 3-0 in Saturday's matchup on the road.
SUMMARY
Vermont State Johnson earned a straight-set victory over Lyndon, showcasing balanced attack and aggressive serving throughout the match. First-year Haylee Hansen led the Badgers with 13 points, while Sepphyre Lepega-Telona added 9 points, and Alana Lewis anchored the defense with 13 digs and 4 aces.
The Badgers opened the match with a 5-2 lead in the first set, fueled by early kills from Tamika Husbands and Tatum Kalahiki. Following an even back-and-forth that saw the Badgers and Hornets tied at eight apiece, Johnson surged ahead behind Hansen's serving and Gross's consistent setting, closing the opening set 25-17.
In similar fashion to the opening set, Johnson grabbed control of set two midway through, following a nine-all tie, with Lewis serving three consecutive aces and Hansen continuing her offensive rhythm. Lepega-Telona and Kalahiki added kills to extend the lead, with the Badgers closing out the set 25-14.
In what would be the final set, Johnson jumped out to a 3–0 lead and maintained control. Hansen and Lepega-Telona combined for five kills, while Gross added two aces. Kalahiki and Husbands contributed late kills, with Lewis sealing the match with a final point to complete the 25–14 sweep.
