The Badgers battled through an overtime thriller, but ultimately fell 108-107 to Lyndon Tuesday night in a high-scoring clash at Carter Gym.
SUMMARY
Johnson came out strong, opening the game with a Joseph Gargiulo three-pointer following a steal by Mohammed Semega. The Badgers traded baskets early, highlighted by Niv Barzilay's deep three and Jaylen Brown's emphatic dunk to keep pace. A late first-half surge featuring Gargiulo's clutch three and Semega's tip-in gave Johnson a 55-54 halftime lead.
The second half was a heavyweight battle, featuring Gargiulo's layup and three-pointer to push Johnson ahead 96-92 with just over three minutes left, but Lyndon answered with free throws and layup to tie it at 96-96 with just over 2:00 remaining. Tre Bradley drilled a huge three at 1:13 for a 99-97 lead, but Lyndon responded at the line to force overtime.
In OT, Barzilay opened with a clutch three and Brown scored on a layup to give Johnson a 104-101 edge. Lyndon tied it again on a triple and, after trading turnovers, Johnson regained the lead 107-106 on Barzilay's putback with nine seconds remaining. Despite Johnson's intense defense, Lyndon found the bottom of the net with a jumper at 1.3 seconds left on the clock, sealing the 108-107 final score.
